Workshop on drug prevention concludes

Under the patronage of President of Customs Major-General Basim bin Yacob Al Hamer, the Customs Training Institute at the Custom Affairs concluded on Thursday a five-day a workshop on drug prevention in association with the UN Development Programme office in Bahrain. International experts from Dubai Police also took part in the workshop.

Major-General Al Hamer thanked the Dubai delegation and the UNDP for making the course a success and affirmed that such workshops promoted exchange of expertise between countries and improvement in the efficiency of national teams specialised in combating the drug menace.

The workshop was the first of its kind related to drug prevention which aimed to create a specialised international team in the field. The team consists of representatives from various directorates and sections of the Ministry of Interior such as the Custom Affairs, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science and the Community Police in addition to the Kingdom's governorates.

The ceremony concluded with the President of Customs distributing certificates among trainees and commemorative gifts among the delegates of the Dubai Police and UNDP representatives.
