Major plan to handle causeway traffic during Eid
3rd July, 2016

As part of coordination between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, Customs President Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Director-General of King Fahad Causeway Abdulrahman bin Saad Al Yahya met recently to discuss preparations to facilitate the movement of travellers across the causeway during Eid Al Fitr holidays.

Shaikh Ahmed said the Customs Affairs had prepared a comprehensive plan to handle the expected rise in the number of travellers during the holidays which coincide with the summer vacation. The officials expect to handle around 17,000 vehicles.

There will be an additional shift working over two sessions as a backup. All lanes at the customs inspection (nine for departure, eight for arrivals) will be kept open. The Customs President praised the role of the General Organisation of King Fahad Causeway and cooperation with the Customs Affairs.

Mr Al Yahya offered to provide all facilities for a smooth flow of traffic along the causeway.

The Air Customs Exits Directorate has also prepared a plan to handle the increased number of travellers by deploying additional staff at the Inspection Yard of the Bahrain International Airport and coordinating with the Bahrain Airport Company
