Customs Affairs President Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa inaugurated a workshop under the theme of ‘Checking money smuggling’ on Sunday June 12. Also present was the acting US Ambassador Stephanie Williams.
The 5 day workshop, which will continue until 16 June, has been organised by Customs Affairs in association with the US Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Immigration Applications Office. The course is being attended by a number of Ministry of Interior and Customs Affairs staff. The Customs Affairs President said ‘the workshop was the result of the free trade agreement with the US and was concerned with the information and technology transfer and training in relation to detecting money smuggling’. He urged all participants to benefit from the workshop and to interact with the lecturers to gain a better understanding of money smuggling. He also thanked the acting US Ambassador for her attendance and the members of the US Department of Homeland Security for organising the workshop.
